Oriental Turtle Dove

The last month we have been busy at the museum moving old stuffed animals to our storage facilities. At the same time the weather has been mostly poor. Last weekend, however, we discovered that a prominent guest from far away had found our feeder - an Oriental Turtle Dove had joined the local Collared Doves! Today the nets were opened and the bird behaved very well, trapping itself as soon as it arrived for breakfast.

Nets open 09-11, netmeter hours approx. 600. SE 6-7 m/s, around 3 degrees, sunny. No playback.

Ringed: ORIENTAL TURTLE DOVE 1, Blue Tit 2, Great Tit 1, House Sparrow 3, Tree Sparrow 4, Chaffinch 10, Mealy Redpoll 3. Total = 24. Also 13 controls.

Incredibly, the 4th new ringing species for Revtangen BO in 2016, of which 3 have been pigeons or doves!
