Revtangen BO Weekend April 6th-7th

Continued NE and mostly sunny on the 6th, thick fog in the morning on the 7th, clearing from around 11. Light shifting breeze, NE in the morning on the 6th but more N on the 7th, turning westery mid-day. Nice temperatures with up to 15 degrees mid-day on the 6th, but colder on the 7th. Nets open 06-14 on the 6th and 07-14 on the 7th, netmeter hours approx. 4800 in total.

A very good day for early April on the 6th, with a nice infux of European Robin (36 ringed) and Goldcrest (19), and 73 birds of 11 species were ringed. The fog prevented most arrivals on the 7th, and only 19 birds ringed.

Ringing total April 6th-7th: Collared Dove 1, Madow Pipit 1, Winter Wren 1, European Robin 38, Song Thrush 2, Redwing 1, Common Blackbird 3, Chiffchaff 8, Goldcrest 25, Blue Tit 1, Common Magpie 1, Tree Sparrow 1, Chaffinch 1, Greenfinch 7, Common Linnet 1. Total = 92. Also 34 controls.

The moth traps produced better than average numbers for this early, with a maximum of 168 individuals of 10 species on the 6th. The hightlight was a new species for Revtangen BO on the 7th, a specimen of The Conformist (Lithophane furcifera).
