May 1st - first fall of tropical migrants

Wryneck - the first in 2018

Light shifting breeze, periods of light rain. There was some rain in the early morning, and the nets were not open until 07.15. They stayed up until 19.15, netmeter hours approx. 4000. Initially very quiet, but when the rain cleared around 11 there was a notable arrival of Willow Warblers. 4 new species were added to the 2018 ringing total.

Ringed: Eurasian Wryneck 1 (first this season), Meadow Pipit 1, Greenland Wheatear 1 (first this season), Redstart 1 (first this season), Song Thrush 1, Fieldfare 1, Blackcap 4, Willow Warbler 53, Chiffchaff 2, Pied Flycatcher 1 (first this season), House Sparrow 1, Greenfinch 4, Common Linnet 1, European Goldfinch 2. Total = 75. Also 9 controls.
