Revtangen BO October 16th

Today we were treated to a rare glimpse of favourable trapping conditions, with light easterlies at least until noon when the wind turned south and increased. Went "all in" and put up the nets last evening and tried playback on Tengmalm's Owl and Long-eared Owl/Pygmy Owl through the night. Playback on Redwing around dawn. Nets open 21 (October 15th) - 14 (Octover 16th). Netmeter hours in daylight approx. 2500.

Ringed: TENGMALM'S OWL 10, PYGMY OWL 1, Grey Wagtail 1, Bohemian Waxwing 10, Winter Wren 6, European Robin 3, Common Blackbird 6, Song Thrush 9, Redwing 26, Blackcap 2, Goldcrest 28, Coal Tit 2, Blue Tit 59, Great Tit 11, Common Magpie 1, House Sparrow 5, Tree Sparrow 2, Chaffinch 7, Brambling 7, Greenfinch 4. Owls are on the move in SW Norway where they normally don't show up. 11 Tengmalm's Owl (top, 10 new and one retrap) and one Pygmy Owl (lower) is a very good owl catch by Revtangen standards.
