Revtangen BO early august

The wind finally settled for a few days, and we managed to squeeze in 3 days of ringing on the 10th-12th, when we had very light easterlies in the morning and lighty shifting breeze later in the day. The wind picked up from the south after lunch on the 12th, and trapping was inefficient after that. In addition to trapping with mist nets in the observatory garden, there has been five nightly attempts at Revtangen on Storm-Petrels, with a few waders also as bycatch.



8 Grasshopper Warblers (5+3) were ringed on 11th-12th, 7 1 cy and 1 adult. A scarce and very skulky species. Gresshoppesanger 1K.

Total ringed August 1st-12th (trapping of passeries only on 10th-12th): European Storm-petrel 21, Common Ringed Plover 1, Red Knot 1, Purple Sandpiper 1, Common Redshank 1, Green Sandpiper 1, Wood Sandpiper 3, Turnstone 2, WATER RAIL 1, White Wagtail 1, Sand Martin 35, Barn Swallow 3, Meadow Pipit 6, Tree Pipit 5, European Robin 2, Northern Wheatear 2, Redwing 5, Fieldfare 6, GRASSHOPPER WARBLER 8, ICTERINE WARBLER 1, Reed Warbler 26, Sedge Warbler 15, Garden Warbler 67, Blackcap 5, Common Whitethroat 17, Lesser Whitethroat 2, Willow Warbler 89, Pied Flycatcher 4, Spotted Flycatcher 1, Great Tit 3, EURASIAN NUTHATCH 2, Tree Sparrow 6, House Sparrow 5, Chaffinch 2, Brambling 2, Greenfinch 2, Eurasian Siskin 3, Lesser Redpoll 16, Common Linnet 2, Yellowhammer 2, Reed Bunting 1. Total = 380. Also, we have controlled 3 European Storm-petrels not from Revtangen, the same Leach's Storm-petrel as ringed in July, and single Reed-, Sedge,- and Willow Warblers not from Revtangen.




A juvenile Water Rail was a surprise catch at dawn on the 10th. Vannrikse, juvenil.


Eurasian Nuthatch is an irrupive species at Revtangen, most years they are not recorded. Spettmeis.
