Revtangen BO May 14th-24th

The last 11 days have seen a slow but gradual increase in temperatures, byt May 2021 will go down in history as significantly colder than average. The nets have been open all days but the 20th, but some days only in the afternoon or with a limited number of nets. Catches have been small, light easterlies on the 21st-22nd produced two days with 30 and 31 birds as the best days this period.



Two Whinchats were colourringe don the 18th. This one is a 3cy+ male. Buskskvett 3K+ hann.

Ringed, May 14th-24th: Collared Dove 1, White Wagtail 2, Dunnock 2, European Robin 1, Common Redstart 2, Whinchat 2, Redwing 1, Fieldfare 2, ICTERINE WARBLER 1, Sedge Warbler 16, Blackcap 4, Garden Warbler 5, Common Whitethroat 5, Lesser Whitethroat 4, Willow Warbler 39, Common Chiffchaff 7, Spotted Flycatcher 3, Pied Flycatcher 5, Great Tit 1, House Sparrow 1, Chaffinch 1, Greenfinch 1, European Goldfinch 3, Mealy Redpoll 1, Lesser Redpoll 20, Common Linnet 5. Total = 135. Also 39 controls, including a Great Tit and 5 Sedge Warblers (1 from Belgium and 4 from Norway) not from Revtangen.


The cold spring has produced poor moth catches, but on the 23rd we caught this Fox Moth (Macrothylacia rubi). Looks more like a rabbit moth, if you ask us....Bringebærspinner.

Ringmerket 14.-24. mai: Tyrkedue 1, linerle 2, jernspurv 2, rødstrupe 1, rødstjert 2, buskskvett 2, rødvingetrost 1, gråtrost 2, GULSANGER 1, sivsanger 16, munk 4, hagesanger 5, tornsanger 5, møller 4, løvsanger 39, gransanger 7, gråfluesnapper 3, svarthvit fluesnapper 5, kjøttmeis 1, gråspurv 1, bokfink 1, grønnfink 1, stillits 3, gråsisik 1, brunsisik 20, tornirisk 5. Total = 135. Også 39 kontroller, inkludert en kjøttmeis og 5 sivsangere (1 belgisk, 4 norske).
