Revtangen BO April 2023

The start of April was cold with sub-zero night temperatures until the 5th. Then the wind changed to SE with increasing temperatures, but no real warm fronts. There was a period with decent arrivals of migrants in the second week. The third week was dominated by very calm and nice weather with quite decent daytime temperatures, and very few migrants stopped on the coast. The last 10 days were mostly cold and dominated by strong N-NW winds, no trapping between the 20th-30th.

In total, we ringed 376 birds in April. European Robin was the most numerous with 96 ringed. Also, 158 controls. The best day was the 7th with 57 ringed. Ringing was carried out on 16 dates, although some were short afternoon sessions. An early Willow Warbler was trapped on the 7th and the first Blackcap on the 10th, apart from that there were no early arrivals of tropical migrants.
